Additional Information
Activated alumina is aluminium oxide in the form of very porous spheres that are literally "tunnelled" at the microscopic level. It is non-corrosive, non-toxic, and has a close affinity to polar molecules.
Fonicpac's activated alumina has many different applications, one of the most important of which is desiccation, the adsorption of water.
Desiccation
Activated alumina can be used to dry compressed air and other gas and liquid streams.
Gas Purification
The adsorbent is often used to purify gas streams by the selective adsorption of specific molecules.
Water Filtration
Activated alumina also has water filtration applications.
Catalyst Applications
Activated alumina can also be used in catalyst applications.
Fonicpac's activated alumina can be packed from 1kg/bag to 25kgs/bag, giving clients total control in their moisture-prevention measures to effectively protect their items from moisture damage.
However, please note that Fonicpac's ready stock activated alumina is the 2.0-3.0 mm variant; please allow up to 4 weeks lead time for other variants as we get them ready to be shipped.
Fonicpac's activated alumina can be regenerated. Once it has been used beyond its effective usage range, it is recommended to discard the used activated alumina.
To minimise the environmental impact, we recommend the following procedure for disposal of the used desiccant. Dispose of according to national and local regulations. The material as supplied is not classified as hazardous, dangerous or toxic. Approved landfill sites can be used. Note that used material which is contaminated with process materials may have different hazards/properties from the material as supplied. Dispose of used material in accordance with the nature of the contamination.

Usage
Activated alumina starts working as soon as it is removed from its protective bag. It is strongly advised that you do not take it out of the bag unless you need to use it. It is used across multiple industries, including but not limited to:
- Water Filtration & Treatment;
- Gas Drying.
Activated alumina's usage generally depends on the industry and area of implementation.
It is highly advised that clients who intend to use activated alumina consult their in-house engineers for a more precise outlook on how to properly use it.
Regeneration & Replacement
Generally, activated alumina can be regenerated and reused multiple times. Once the activated alumina starts to crumble, or has gone past its effective time period, it is best to discard it.

Storage
After taking out the desired amount of clay desiccant packs, keep the remaining clay desiccant packs back into its bag or drum to prolong its shelf life.
